St. John’s Creation Stewards are dedicated to caring for God’s creation in our parish, our community and our world. The Creation Stewards committee began after several parishioners attended the Healing Our Planet Earth (HOPE) Conference
www.healingourplanetearth.org in April, 2008.
Our mission is to care for God's creation at St. John's parish, in Snohomish, and in the Episcopal Diocese of Western Washington. We will work with other groups at St. John's to become better stewards by raising awareness in youth and adults, sponsoring informational events and activities, and keeping care of creation in liturgy and prayer.
We are working with others to
- Recycle waste from coffee hours, community kitchen meals, and other events;
- Plant and maintain gardens to produce food for community food banks and kitchens;
- Research ways to reduce our energy costs and reduce our church's carbon footprint;
- Support local farmers by encouraging shopping at farmers' markets;
- Help keep Snohomish sidewalks and streets clean;
- Encourage the use of local foods for church events and coffee hours.
Let's make care of God's Creation part of all our lives!
