The Current Events Discussion Group meets on on the second Friday of each month, at 6:30 p.m. at St. John’s.
How do we - as followers of Christ - think about the events in the world both locally and globally? Have you ever wondered? Join us and explore current events and topics. Discuss, debate, laugh, explore, fellowship, discovery – all in the context of faith.
The meeting concludes with an optional dinner at a local restaurant at 7:30 p.m.

Current book: Strength in What Remains by Tracy Kidder - a vivid and moving portrait of a man who survived the genocide in Burundi.

A long-standing tradition returns to St. John's - the knitting group meets weekly on Saturday mornings from 9 to 10 a.m. Come to knit, crochet and visit.

Wine Into Wishes Fundraiser - 2/4/2012 6:30 PM
The St. John's Outreach Committee's 2nd annual wine tasting event is from 6:30 - 8:30 p.m. Light appetizers will be served.
Tickets are $20 each, and are available during coffee hours after the 8 and 9:45 am services at St. John's on January 8, 15, 22, and 29th. Tickets are also available from any member of the Outreach Committee. You may leave your name and phone number at the church office, 360-568-4622, and someone will get back to you with details.
This year's event will be limited to 100 tickets. Don't delay - get your tickets early! The evening includes tasting a variety of mystery wines, a raffle for some "special" wines (maybe even a local Quilceda Creek), light appetizers, and information about the Everett Gospel Mission Women and Children's Shelter - their services and needs.

Soup Supper/Movie Series - 2/8/2012 6:00 PM
Join the Adult Education Committee and the Creations Stewards for a five-week series of simple soup/bread suppers at 6 pm, followed by a movie at 6:30 pm. The movie series theme is "appreciation of all of creation and what we can do to care for it. Nursery care is available, but school-age children can watch the movies with their families.

Ash Wednesday Services - 2/22/2012 12:00 AM
Services at 6:30 am, 12 Noon, and 7 pm.
Ash Wednesday begins the 40 days of preparation for the Easter celebration. The service reminds us to come before God humbly and grateful for His mercy. In the service people may receive ashes in the form of a cross on their foreheads and recite together prayers expressing our need for forgiveness. The service includes Holy Eucharist.
