St. John’s is excited to participate in the Bishop’s Committee for the Environment pledge. See Candace McKenna for the official pledge form.
The Bishop’s Committee for the Environment (BCE) has issued a call for individuals and congregations across the diocese to participate in a pledge drive for the stewardship of creation.
God’s creation has been damaged by over-use and misuse of fossil resources, leading to climate change. This affects the poorest parts of the world most, causing poverty, displacement and violence as people fight over increasingly scarce resources. What can we do to address climate change?
Every congregation is invited to conduct a pledge drive for the stewardship of creation to help members recognize their contribution to greenhouse gas pollution, and commit to changes for the healing of creation.
Some ways to care for creation:
- Turn down the thermostat
- Replace windows
- Pray daily for creation
- Watch a documentary about climate change
- Shop from local farmers
- Call congress regularly about environmental issues
- Make a carbon offset at ecww.org
- Take public transportation, walk or ride your bike.
