Our profile is completed and can be accessed right here.
The Profile tells the story of St. John – out the past, present, and our imagined future. The history of our congregation touches on significant people and events that have helped make us who we are. Our worship life describes our current programs and ministries. Detailed information about our budget, endowments, pledges, and buildings is included. Demographic data is also included: average Sunday attendance; congregation by age, occupation, ethnic origin, residence; time in parish. The results of the Church Assessment Tool (CAT) are summarized. Our connections with our local communities and the Diocese of Olympia are described.
Our hopes and dreams for the future are also expressed. How can we live out our vision to grow in faith and act in the world? How might our ministries be expanded or new opportunities for ministry found? What challenges must be overcome if we are to live out the vision? Answers to these questions will inform the position description for a new rector.
The Profile Committee spent much of 2016 listening to members of the congregation, developing a process for congregational self-study, collecting information, drafting and editing the Profile, and finally submitting the Profile to the Vestry and then Bishop for approval. Now that this has happened, the Search Committee can start their work.
The Profile defines the leader the congregation hopes to call. It will be the responsibility of the Search Committee to identify the candidate who best fits that definition of a leader.
