“…[Our] primary job is to ensure that our young people have ample opportunity to experience Christ in their lives….”
Rev. Linda L. Grenz, “Leading a Young Person to Christ” contained in the Journey to Adulthood Manual.
Youth Group Meetings
A social activity is arranged every month.
The youth group also serves at the Community kitchen. We will be serving September 16th from 5:30 to 6:30pm.
Goals of the St. John’s Youth Group
Our program is inspired by the Journey to Adulthood curriculum which includes the following goals:
- To celebrate God’s gifts
- To affirm the power of creative energy and to explore the thoughts and disciplines which allow individuals to affect change in the world
- To teach, by word and example, the principles of freedom, responsibility and friendship.
Who Attends…
All youth in grades six through 12 are invited to participate in St. John’s Youth Group. Within the Youth Group there is Junior Youth for grades six through eight and High School Youth for grades 9 through 12.
Every other month on the third Thursday our church cooks a meal for the Community Kitchen at St. John’s parish hall. On those Thursdays the youth gather at 5:40 p.m. and eat dinner with the Community Kitchen community. After dinner the youth clear tables and wash dishes.
Fundraiser
St. John’s Junior Youth Group has an ongoing fundraiser. The youth collect used printer ink cartridges and old, unused cell phones. This activity benefits the environment by keeping these materials out of landfills and helps to raise money for St. John's Youth Group activities.
